Candice is the creative stylist & vintage consultant behind Oh, Fox Vintage and a (twist!) policy analyst. She's also an eager hostess, quick with a big bold laugh, a blissful newly wed & a great story teller.
We sipped our coffee & talked about her new East Austin home, how to properly stock a bar (have a bar party!), her lack of screens - Candice prefers to unwind with a record or good book, and of course, our mutual love, vintage. Her studio is filled to the brim with treasures: cozy furs, pretty pumps, classic party dresses, distressed denim jackets ... you name it Candice has it.

My style icons are… my friends. Ana,
Megan, and Jenna Lyons.
I’m inspired by… going on vacation.
Taking time to unplug, leaving email unattended and my iphone in my
suitcase, really inspires new ideas and rhythms in my life.
If I lived in another era I’d choose… I wouldn’t choose one.
I am so in love with my life – so honored to know the people I do, have
the friends I have, travel to the places I’ve traveled, that I can’t imagine
living in another era, even though I admire its style or way of life.
The last book I read was… Half the Sky, Nicholas Kristoff and Cheryl WuDunn. In addition to my creative life, I give a lot
of time to being an educational equity advocate, and this survey of women’s issues
left me eager to do more.
Right now I’m obsessed with… interior decorating – since we brought a house (eep!) and
brought back a gorgeous Berber rug from Morocco, I’ve been obsessed with procuring
the perfect pieces for each space. My
dream for our home is comfort meets beautiful.
Lately I’ve been listening to… Van Morrison. But I
listen to Van Morrison all of the time.
When I’m at home I love to… make coffee, hang the laundry up to dry, bake, listen to
records and sit in the rocking chair on my front porch.
If I were in a movie I’d be in… Casablanca, of course.
When I walk up to the bar I order… I love trying new things, but I’m a margarita girl.
My go-to beauty product is… I swear by two things:
Cover Girl Lip Stain in Plum and Chanel Precision face wash and
cleanser.
I’m crushing on… my husband. I feel
grateful to wake up next to my best friend everyday. And Helmut Lang wool
tights.
The last time I surprised myself I… I made an acorn squash and risotto dish for guests last
Friday night and it turned out unusually delicious. My cooking skills rate average, but I was
completely surprised that this meal turned out so well!
On a sunny afternoon I love to… I love going for a walk – even if it’s just walking to the
local coffee shop instead of driving – Meandering through my neighborhood,
finding garage sales, taking in the air, saying hello, and just slowing down is
incredibly refreshing for me on a sunny afternoon.
When I’ve got money to burn I head to… New York. I’ll be
honest, there are days when I wish I owned more clothes or could shop more, but
my favorite clothes can’t match the feeling that I get rediscovering my
favorite city. Most of our spending goes
to traveling.
Five things I can’t live without are…
Strong, good coffee.
My closest friends.
A place to call home.
Beautiful Stationary
Kitchen Aid
I feel most myself when I am… laughing.
